Chambers Presented the Madeleine Thomas Award For Public Service

Chambers, an attorney in the Traverse City office of Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge, was recently presented the Madeleine Thomas Award by the Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim Bar Association. This annual award is given in recognition of an attorney's service to the community, non-profit work, and overall actions and personal contribution which make the community a better place to live and work.

Steve practices in the areas of estate planning, probate law, real estate, oil and gas, municipal law, cooperatives, zoning and business transactions. Throughout his career, Steve has remained heavily focused on community based affiliations.

"If you were looking for three words to describe Steve, they could be civility, honesty, and professionalism," said Michael J. Long, Chair of the Madeleine Thomas Award Committee. "There are other words equally complementary, but certainly, public service, is high on his agenda. He has been a true asset to our community, and this Bar Association for many years."

Steve has been a longstanding member of Rotary and Rotary Camp and Services of Traverse City where, among many other accomplishments, he volunteered numerous hours and oil and gas expertise to increase funding for the programs. In addition, he has served on the Munson Medical Center Corporate Board, the Leland Community Improvement Association, past Vice President and Board Member of the Inland Seas Association and Board Member and past President of the Northwest Michigan Blood Program.
