Karen Hockstad Joins Smith Haughey's Ann Arbor Office
Ann Arbor, Mich., September 16, 2011 - The law firm of Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge is pleased to announce that Karen S. Hockstad has joined the firm's Ann Arbor office as a shareholder.
Karen represents businesses in the areas of complex commercial litigation matters, business and tax law, business succession planning, employment law and related litigation, including non-competition agreements, real estate litigation, and intellectual property litigation. Her clients include restaurants; entertainment venues; condominium associations; real estate holding companies, internet and retail companies; and individual entrepreneurs. Karen also represents multiple charter schools in contract negotiation and related litigation.
Karen joins the firm after previously practicing in Columbus, Ohio where she was very active in the community. She is a recipient of both the Columbus Bar Association's Community Service Award and the Business First 40 Under 40 Award, and was named Woman of the Year by NAPW in 2010/2011. In addition, she has earned an AV peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
She received her bachelors degree from the University of Michigan and earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University. She also has an LL.M., Taxation, from Capital University Law School. She is licensed to practice in the state and federal courts of Ohio and Michigan.
