Local Health Attorney Appointed to National Health Care Practice Group
Michigan, August 6, 2009 — Veronica Marsich, well-known health law counselor with Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge, has been appointed to the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA), Teaching Hospitals and Academic Medical Centers Practice Group.
"Participating in the Teaching Hospitals and Academic Medical Centers Practice Group (TH/AMC) will give Smith Haughey the ability to increase knowledge of health law issues, while providing the opportunity for me to grow professionally, gain valuable leadership experience, and network with other health lawyers from across the country," says Veronica Marsich, Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge shareholder.
The Teaching Hospitals and Academic Medical Centers Practice Group (TH/AMC) addresses the practical legal issues arising from the interpretation and application of law and regulations to the operations of health care providers, payors, regulators, and suppliers as they affect TH/AMCs. The Practice Group presents summaries and brief legal analyses of forms, models, approaches, structures, relevant to the successful operation of an in-house legal service for a TH/AMC as well as those attorneys who service a TH/AMC.
"AHLA is the national organization for health care attorneys. The fact that Smith Haughey is able to have members of the firm recognized and participating at all levels reinforces the legitimacy of the group and the skills of our health care attorneys," says Marsich. "This appointment will provide a platform for Smith Haughey to attract clients outside of Michigan while also strengthening our local health care and life science practice."
Through networking opportunities for AHLA members, Smith Haughey will also have access to federal regulators and policy makers.
