  • litigation matters under a variety of employment statutes, including Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family Medical Leave Act.

Maria is a member of Smith Haughey's Health Law Practice Group as well and frequently counsels health care employers on issues relating to HIPAA compliance, medical staff bylaws and interpretive services for non-English speaking patients and patients who are deaf or hard of hearing.

In addition, Maria is trained as a social worker which makes her uniquely suited to assist non-profit and community organizations with their employment law needs.

"My clients know that I care as much about their business as they do. Whether it is a quick question over the phone or an on-site training session, my clients never hesitate to call me because they know that I am with them every step of the way. I don't tell my clients what they should do - I show them what we can do together."
