Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge is deeply saddened to share the passing of Lori L. Gibson, the firm’s Chief Operating Officer.
Lori passed away in her home the morning of Sunday, August 15, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Lori was 56 years old.

She brought energy, incredible insight and experience, and tremendous leadership to her job. Her passion for her work and colleagues is unrivaled. Her legacy will live on here at the firm, and she will be missed.”
Lori began her career as an attorney at Warner Norcross and Judd, where she practiced employment law and served on the firm’s career development and recruiting committees. Before joining Smith Haughey, Lori worked as the Director of Human Resources at Spectrum Health Hospitals and Vice President of Operations with Spectrum Health Continuing Care. Lori joined Smith Haughey as its COO in November of 2012, and the firm is incredibly fortunate to have learned from her experience and skillsets over the past eight years.
Lori attended Wheaton College, where she received her undergraduate degree. From there, she earned her master’s degree from the University of Michigan and her J.D. from the University of Minnesota.
Lori was incredibly devoted to her family and friends and, in addition, was involved in both her professional and local community.
Lori will forever be remembered as a remarkable leader, an incredibly intelligent and talented attorney, and a true friend.
