SHRR Presents Webinar About Changes to the Michigan No-Fault Act
Grand Rapids, Mich., August 24, 2010 - Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge's no-fault litigation attorneys recently presented an educational webinar titled, "Defending a No-Fault Claim - The Rules Have Changed."
On July 31, the Michigan Supreme court issued its decision in McCormick v. Carrier. As expected, the Court overruled the 2004 decision in Kreiner v. Fischer, which had been the seminal case construing the No-Fault Act's serious impairment threshold. Under the new ruling, the standard for "serious impairment of body function is much less rigid.
In this webinar, attorneys Todd Millar, Bill Henn, Andy Blodgett, Tom Aycock, and Kristen Ray discussed the implications of this Supreme Court ruling including specifically:
- How this ruling changes the "serious impairment of body function" threshold of the No-Fault Act,
- The effects that the decision will have on the insurance industry, and
- What profesionals need to know to adjust and defend a no-fault claim in this new climate.
