Siebers is First Attorney in Michigan to Receive Certification as Merger & Acquisition Advisor
Grand Rapids, Mich., October 10, 2012 — Jonathan J. Siebers, an attorney and shareholder with Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge, is the first attorney in Michigan to become a Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA).
The CM&AA designation serves to maintain the highest recognized standards of professional excellence for middle market corporate financial advisory and transaction services, and to provide a benchmark for professional achievement within that overall body of knowledge. To become certified, professionals must pass a standardized exam. Then, they must remain active in continuing their merger and acquisition education by completing approved courses or seminars, attending conferences, becoming a committee member of the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors, and participating through other approved activities.
Merger and acquisition transactions have significantly increased in West Michigan over the past few months. Jon believes that as long as the economy remains steady, this trend will continue.
"The CM&AA is a rigorous curriculum focused on valuation, tax, private capital markets and a host of other non-legal factors that drive M&A deals. My CM&AA training, combined with my years of experience in closing M&A deals, will ensure that my clients will get effective, efficient representation in the purchase or sale of a business," Jon said.
Jon is an experienced transactional attorney in Smith Haughey’s Grand Rapids office, where he serves as chair of the firm’s Real Estate, Construction, and Government Law Practice Groups. Jon represents businesses, investors and lenders in mergers and acquisitions, financing, private equity and real estate transactions.
