Traverse City, Mich., May 9, 2008 - Three Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge employees were recently recognized by the Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim County Bar Association for their pro bono legal work.
Legal secretary Donielle Rikli was honored for her continued involvement stemming from her work on a committee that created a Divorce Clinic for those with low-incomes. The Divorce Clinic meets the second Thursday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Women's Resource Center. When it began in 2003, the Divorce Clinic served three people. In 2007, the Clinic served approximately 257. Donielle has volunteered at this clinic since its inception.
Paralegal Kathy Ann Blunck has also volunteered with the Divorce Clinic. She was recognized for her service with that organization, as well as her volunteer work with the Probate Court where she is a volunteer probation officer for juvenile first-time offenders. Kathy Ann has also assisted with the annual Law Day activities.
Jason Thompson, an attorney with Smith Haughey, was recognized for his volunteer work with the Third Level Crisis Center Free Legal Aid Clinic.
