Smith Haughey Reaches Out to Undergraduate Students of Color at Hope College With New Internship Program
Grand Rapids, Mich., Sept. 24, 2009 - The Diversity Committee at the law firm of Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge is pleased to announce a new internship program that has been established with Hope College.
Each semester, one Hope College undergraduate student who has demonstrated an interest in pursuing a career in the legal field will be selected to serve as an intern in the Grand Rapids office of Smith Haughey. The purpose of the program is to reach out to students of color at the undergraduate level and assist them in achieving their goal of attending law school and becoming attorneys. The internship will provide the student with exposure to all areas of the law and firm operations.
Rocio Ibarra will serve as the first intern in this new program. Rocio is currently a senior at Hope College where she is majoring in sociology with a minor in French. Following her graduation from Hope College, Rocio plans to attend law school where she would like to focus her studies on immigration law.
