Smith Haughey Welcomes Steve Chambers

Mr. Chambers brings with him extensive experience serving clients in the areas of estate planning, probate law, real estate, oil and gas, municipal law, cooperatives, zoning and business transactions.

Mr. Chambers received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado in 1963, and his Juris Doctor from the Kansas School of Law in 1966. He worked with the law firm of Gardner and Davis from 1966-1971, and later was a founding partner and shareholder in the Traverse City firm of Blakeslee & Chambers, P. C.

"I look forward to my Of Counsel relationship with Smith Haughey. With my 38 year of experience and with more than 85 attorneys in four cities across the state, I will have the support and expertise behind me to provide high quality legal services to my clients," says Chambers.

Professionally, Mr. Chambers is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Grand Traverse/Leelanau/Antrim Bar Association, the Electric Cooperative Bar Association, the Estate Planning Council and the Michigan Oil and Gas Association. He is a moderator for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education in the areas of estate planning and business law, and is a past instructor of real estate law at Northwestern Michigan College.

Mr. Chambers' community activities include the Traverse City Rotary Club, the Munson Medical Center Corporate Board and the Leland Community Improvement Association. He is a past member of the Inland Seas Education Association, the Northwest Michigan Blood Program and the Traverse City Golf and Country Club. He is a member and past President of the Leland Country Club.

Mr. Chambers and his wife Carol have three adult daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, swimming, tennis and skiing.
